I've been working as a freelance crafter since 1998. This came about gradually after Art Foundation and then I was studying Costume Production at Rose Bruford College in Kent. I started selling Fimo figurines at our local craft centre and then that kind of took over from my course.
I carried on with the Fimo work and also produced handmade cards. At one point I was selling 600 cards a week and they were selling all over the UK, including John Lewis. The Fimo work incresed as I started working for Staedtler UK as a Fimo demonstrator and project designer. This included demonstrations all over the south of the UK, including the NEC and London venues, and even an appearance on Create and Craft TV. I wrote projects for them for a variety of craft and interiors magazines and shops including Early Learning Centre and HobbyCraft.
This in turn led to independent magazine articles and I became a regular contributor for Practical Crafts and Scrapbook Magic (unfortunately no longer published). I was writing projects for scrapbooking, Fimo, cardmaking, toy making, patchwork, stained glass, mosaic, latch hook.
I am now writing for Craft Stamper magazine. I have also started doing local Fimo demonstrations again and I am teaching Fimo classes at Spinning Weal.
I now have a second blog, documenting my interest in visual arts in the church. You can see it here.
