Sketchy fun

I enjoyed playing with sketches earlier in the week and I'm determined to work through my stack of photos (some are still waiting to be scrapped from last Christmas) and so I've been looking out for more sketches.

I started with Katy's sketch from Bubbly Scrumptious and here is my page...

I'm really pleased with it and I'm learning to be more critical of my pages as I'm working on them so that I remove something and try again if I don't like it rather than rushing on as I feel in a hurry. I redid my title here as I didn't like the stickers I had originally used (thankfully they peeled off easily and I can use them again) and I took a little time to add the eyelets too.


This is my second page which is based on Sketch #067 from Twisted Sketches...

I'm gettting the hang of using mists on pages now. I've just got some Maya Mists and they are so much better than the Cosmic Shimmers that I've had before. They are much easier to use to get a fine spray. The "twist" this week with that goes with the sketch was buttons and I think they work well on the layout.

Away with the fairies

I was looking at the Maya Road Design Team blog for inspiration and I was drawn to the fantastic project " Turning a pumpkin into an elephant" ! It made me wonder what I could make with my chipboard pieces and here's what I came up with - my little fairy. And the point is...

I'm feeling quite overwhelmed by the huge stack of photos waiting to be scrapped after our busy summer. I'm finding that sketches really help me work quite quickly, as I have already sorted out my photos into mini kits. I lay all the photos out across the lounge floor and then match up patterned papers, stickers, rub-ons, embellishments and then put each set into a separate bag so that I have it all to hand if I find I have a spare hour to squeeze in some crafting.

I really like Katy's sketch this week too, so I'll have a go at that soon.

Continuing on with my New Year's resolution of getting more creative - I've just signed up for a new online class called Clearly Creative with Prima over at My Creative Classroom. It starts at the end of this month and it looks really interesting with lots of products I know nothing about!

A party of cards

I've been playing with the Paisley Road papers from Prima this week to make cards for the many birthdays our family and friends have this month - I've only just worked through the first few names on the list. To see more of the details, click here for the Bubbly Scrumptious blog.

Back to school

This week has been hectic as we are getting back into our term time routine of school/nursery/activites and slowing getting the house back in order after the mayhem of the summer holidays but I have found a little time to sit down with my crafty box set aside for the Learn Something New Every Day class to work on the first pages. I've got a very limited box of materials including three sets of stamps, a sheet of alphabet stickers, a book of rub-ons and a piece of patterned paper with the alphabet on which I'm using to cut out one letter per day.

Life Sparkles

This week over on Bubbly Scrumptious the design team have all been playing with the lovely new collections from Prima. I got creative with Paisley Road - I love the colours and the doodleyness (is that a word?!) . I usually only put a sneak peek on here of my design team post but I am so pleased with my page that I've put it on here too. If you'd like to see more of the details click here

The title is a quote from Lord Byron, which can be seen on the wall of my favourite coffee shop - I'm always looking for inspiration. I thought it matched the photo perfectly as it shows a little of the ginger one's excess of personality!

Buttons, buttons, buttons

How I love buttons! It is probably because of my love of anything colourful (and preferably shiny) and memories of Sunday afternoons spent categorising my granny's button box. I watched the blonde one sorting buttons yesterday, so it is a fantastic activity which never dates!

This month's challenge on Vanilla Sugar was to decorate a clock and this is my project...

The strap was made following instructions from the very talented SJ which can be seen here. The watch is fastened by threading the ribbon through the wire loop and tieing it in a bow. The watch face is from a kit which come with a variety of ribbons so you can change your strap.
